Spring Crafts

After making a Spring wreath, I saw some very spring-colored fabrics at the store for a very good price. So, I splurged on a new project. I have no fabric like this in my closet, so it was a little different using such bright colors. But, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It definitely makes it feel like spring.

I liked these Easter wreaths that I found at the store, but I wasn't willing ot pay a ton for it. So, I had Maria and Kim come help me and we decorated eggs and other pieces one day. And then put it together for a wreath. To be honest, it really is not my favorite wreath I've ever made. It's probably in dead last, but at least it feels springy...

Sister Crowell's Quilt

So, our dear Bishop's wife is undergoing a battle with cancer. The Young Women really wanted to do a type of service for her, but under the current circumstances, it's a little difficult. So, we decided to make a quilt for her. The girls cut out the squares, embroidered their names on fabric for the back, and also helped to tie the quilt. I pieced it together. This quilt was a lot of fun to do with the girls - especially seeing some of them sew for the first time. Many of the girls wanted to do other embellishments like flowers, so we encouraged them to.

Boy Crib Quilts

So, it seems inevitable that there would be tons of baby showers right now. So, I've started a little collection of baby quilts. I liked these fabrics (the tiny squares) because it makes it look like I spent a lot of time cutting up the tiny squares, but it's just the fabric. I still did cut the larger squares though - and like the decorative edge? I remember this from one of my baby quilts my family made for me. That was one of my favorite things about that quilt. Unfortunately, the dog ate it - literally!

The top one is a Snoopy fabric that I've had forever. It was originally for a friend of mine's baby when we lived in Utah, but I never did get around to finishing it. So, finally, I decided it had to be finished.

Maria's Birthday Quilt

Everytime I've made a quilt in the past, Maria gets that "hey, how come you didn't make me one" look on her face. So, for her birthday, that's what she got. I don't have a very good picture because I was literally still making it right before she opened it. It was fun, but a little crazy making it too. It's basically four layers of fleece that you're trying to sew together. But, hopefully she likes it - and I'm sure that it will definitely keep her warm!
